Dr. Genereux is originally from Yucaipa, CA. He received his B.A. in Chemistry from Swarthmore College, studying protein aggregation with Prof. Robert F. Pasternack. He earned a B.S. in Physics at UC Irvine, and a PhD in Chemistry from Caltech under the mentorship of Prof. Jacqueline Barton. At Caltech, he characterized the contribution of single-step transfer to DNA-mediated charge transport. Dr. Genereux moved to The Scripps Research Institute to learn Cellular Proteostasis under the mentorship of Prof. Jeffery Kelly and Prof. Luke Wiseman as an NIH NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow, and later an AHA Postdoctoral Fellow. At TRSI, Dr. Genereux characterized how the ER stress-responsive transcription factor ATF6 remodels proteostasis in the extracellular space. At UC Riverside, the Genereux lab applies its expertise in mass spectrometry-based proteomics to probe molecular aspects of proteostasis.
